365 plus one: January 1st - January 7th

So I did a 365 project for 2010, and I loved it. It was really challenging, but still super fun. This year I tossed around the idea of a 52 week project, but ended up talking myself out of it mainly because of the fact that carrying around my camera again every single day didn't sound like too much fun.

So I just decided to do an easy, fun "365 plus one project" with instagram and my iPhone. I don't really have any plans for this one. I'll probably post the pictures once a week, or once a month, or only my favorites...I haven't really decided yet. I seriously forgot to take a picture today, I don't know how I managed to do that with everything going on. But tonight, after everyone had left, and our entire house was cleaned up. My dog - who is in dire need of a haircut - sat around, completely exhausted from the craziness of the day. I had a plan for the last day of December Photo Project this year, but I guess that idea is going to have to wait until DPP 2012!

If you haven't heard about Elf on the Shelf, you need to look it up! My nieces and nephew have one, Vinny Velst is his name, and they always call me with the places he's been every morning. The best one so far is when my niece, Callen, called to say that "Vinny put our panties up where our stockings are supposed to hang! What a naughty Elf!" If you remind them that Vinny is watching, they are little angels! :) Here's him today, in their food cupboard.

Downtown Columbus is actually decorated pretty cool for Christmas. I love all the lights up the trees and down the streets. I took this picture quick today when I was driving by this clock, and I wish it was light outside right now so I could go back and take a different one!

I made the drive to Columbus yet again today, and it was one of the prettiest drives. The sun was setting for most of it and as I got closer to home, it turned all pink and orange and looked awesome. So I took a whole bunch of pictures while I was driving. Whoops! :)

I've been battling the stomach flu today. If that didn't suck enough on its own, I also had two finals to take today, a half hour apart from each other, on opposite campuses. So here's my attempt at a quick picture as I took my miserable self to campus to fight through the finals.

But hey, I'm done. I survived what seemed like the worst semester of my life, and now I get a break. A much needed amazing break - of which I still have to work - but at least no homework or studying to do! But for now, I think I'll go sleep for at least a week.

I met my mom and my niece in Omaha today to finish up some Christmas shopping and it was crazy! The stores weren't too terrible, but the hallways, parking lots, and traffic were insane! But we did finish all of my mom's shopping, so that was a plus!

Tonight, me and my brother made a very quick trip to Columbus and back. This was a store downtown that had the coolest Christmas window display.

I took about a hundred pictures today! It was such a pretty snow that I didn't even complain that much about having to walk to class in it and getting completely drenched. This is the start of my walk, and I love that all that nasty snow around the sidewalk is gone now due to the pretty new snow coming down all day!

Today was a crazy busy day. And today I kept reminding myself to take a picture. But, of course I kept forgetting. And then I got home, and didn't have a picture. Which means I had to go on a search for something! So, I resorted to the always pretty holiday bokeh :) It's a lame picture, but I did cross off almost everything on my to-do list and now all I have to do is to study my butt off for finals next week and it's over!

Porches. My future house has to have a porch. I love them. I don't have one at my house in Lincoln, and my parents house doesn't have a huge one, but whenever I go home, I always spend some time sitting out there. Today it was covered in untouched snow, which is another thing I love!

It's December! I don't know where this year went, but it's almost over! Today is the first day of December Photo Project, which I'm so excited for! For 2010, I did picture a day for the whole year, and have actually been missing it a little - only a tiny bit though! But now I get to do a short 25 days to get it out of my system because I know I'm not ready for a full year yet!

Tonight I finally had a free night from group projects, homework, and studying. So I sat around and did pretty much nothing all night and it was great! I'm already loving all the DPP photos!

When I take pictures of people, I love when they act like themselves. I don't like to tell them what to do and make it look like something they've never done in their life! That's hard for most people to do in front of a camera, but Cody and Kristi nailed it! They were so comfortable with each other, did whatever they wanted, and had lots of ideas of their own. We had a lot of fun on this shoot..trying to control the dog, sliding down slides, swinging, and exploring downtown! :)

Hitting up the Pumpkin Patch this weekend! We've went to Vala's for so many years, this year we're trying somewhere new. I love everything about this time of year, and what better place to enjoy all of that than the Pumpkin Patch!
Having two engagement shoots this weekend! I hope it isn't freezing out, because I'm looking forward to them!
Feeling swamped with homework! I feel like I've said this in every Thursday(ING) since school started. But it's just getting worse. Every free minute I have is spent on homework!
Getting sick! I'm not okay with this either, because I'm feeling pretty gross and it's such a bad time for me to get sick, but I guess when there really isn't a good time to get sick!

Yesterday I took 2 of my nieces, Addison and Callen out to take some pictures. I let them pick their outfits, the place, and let them do whatever they wanted. Their photographer personalities definitely came out! They were bossing each other around, telling each other where to stand, and when I was supposed to take the pictures. We had a fun time!

At The Mill there are letters from different people, addressed to "Curious Stranger" stuffed into a hole in the brick wall. I don't read them all, but today the two that I did read were really great.

"Today is my b-day. My advice to you is never sneak away from this day and embrace it and share it with others. What a glorius night it will be. Every face you see is a memory. Having zero time to do anything other than homework in my life! I don't feel like I've ever been this busy. Which means all weekend I get to do homework, and even then I probably won't be done! (I'm actually taking a break from it right now to even write this blog post!)
Feeling very nostalgic about lots of things lately.
Needing fall weather to stick around. I'm nervous that we aren't going to get an actual fall season this year and that always bums me out.
Missing lots of people. I can't find the time to see everyone I want to!

I love so many things about farms! I love the country, I love not being surrounded by people, I love all the animals, the trees, and all the buildings. And pretty much everything else! But little brown eyed boys in boots, I think that beats everything else out at this farm!

There were animals everywhere! Brant is in love with these cats, and there's tons of them. He didn't want to put them down, and some kind of animal made it into most of their pictures that day!

Here's a sneak peek for Chris. This was probably the most fun I've ever had on any kind of shoot. It was pouring rain, but as much as he hates to smile, he was a trooper and we finished quick!

One of the reasons I like senior shoots so much is how much of their personality comes out when you let them do whatever they want and don't tell them how to pose. His fun, carefree personality definitely came out during these and I'm excited to post the rest of his pictures!

Trying to find time to edit the thousands (yes I said thousands) of pictures I have to edit, all the homework I have to do, the reading I have to get done, not to mention eating, sleeping, and all the other things involved in my daily life!
Booking 2 more shoots for this weekend is awesome, but is also going to leave me absolutely no hard drive space left on my computer or my external hard drive. Which means it's time to spend some big money...which I'm not too thrilled about!
Feeling like the days are moving by so unbelievably fast. I feel like my life is flying by and I'm just watching it go! Life has been a little crazy hectic the last few weeks, and it's already September!
Needing to go shopping so bad! There are so many things on my wish list, that I really do just want to go out and buy...I guess I'll keep dreaming!
Spending this weekend with my sister and her kids, watching the Huskers, and taking more pictures!

Ohhhh Thursday, I'm so very glad to see you!

Feeling so unbelievably overwhelmed with the stresses of school. I know I can get through it, it's just feeling like a little much right now!
Having a big stroke of bad luck in the last week. I hope it's done and over with!

Oh hey, here I am! I haven't done Thursday(ING) in a few weeks and I promise I haven't forgot it! After reading my friend Bethany's Thursday(ING) post, I realized that the last few weeks of summer are always jam packed full for everyone! But, here's a few...

Spending the last few weeks of freedom in Okoboji, Chicago, hanging with my family and great friends, and enjoying not going to class yet!
Preparing for school. Once I finally get into a routine, I'm actually okay with being in school. But the first few weeks of getting into the swing of things is always a little stressful!
Realizing that I'm a SENIOR! This is my last semester of classes! WOAH, when did that happen?!
Planning the year already, my weekends are quickly filling up with concerts, photo shoots, vacations, and birthdays! The busy-ness never ends!
Being perfectly okay with where I am in my life right now and content with what's happening! :)

Me and my friend Ellen went to Chicago last week to visit her friend from high school. It was my first time there and we spent our time checking out all of the touristy stuff, shopping, hanging at the beach, eating some great food, and seeing the Cubs win! It was a fun trip and I will definitely be going back there very soon! I always knew it was my favorite city!

Every year, me and my family go to Okoboji Iowa to camp. We meet all of my dad's brother and sisters and their families there and it's always a great time! It's my favorite place ever. This year, we had the biggest group we've ever had and it was a ton of fun! It was full of huge sand volleyball tournaments, tons of good food, giving out awards, swimming, campfires, shopping, and hanging out at the campsire! I took a million pictures, so I just decided to share a few. If you've never been there, you should visit!

Thursday(ING) on a Wednesday this week...leaving for vacation today!

Leaving for Okoboji today after work with my bro! I've been going every summer since I was 4 months old and it's my favorite place ever! We have the biggest group we've ever had this year and I'm really looking forward to all the fun!
Preparing to get eaten alive by mosquitoes while camping. For some reason, they really love me, I always get a thousand bites, and they swell up to the size of 50 cent pieces. It's a good look for me!
Getting bad luck like crazy. My week started with a funeral, locking my keys in my car on the other side of town, running all over the place, having the spare key not work, borrowing a friends car, finding and paying a locksmith, finding rides, my friends keys disappearing, finally getting my car back, and being overcharged on our bills. Blah. But now, I'm ready for whatever else life throws at me!
Feeling inspired by everything. Everything I see, I get an idea that I just want to create. Now, if only I had some money...

Tristan & Ellen's Day of Fun

I was finalllyyy in town this weekend after being gone so much this summer, and Ellen completely booked my schedule for the whole weekend!

We headed downtown with some friends Friday night

Saturday morning, we slept in a little bit, got ready, and then went to Red Mango breakfast that we've been waiting for forever! We got some smoothies with fro-yo, strawberries, bananas, granola, and honey and they were great!

Then we went down to the haymarket, got some coffee, and spent the rest of the morning walking around the Farmer's Market.

After that we went to the mall and shopped a little bit, ran some errands, picked up some lunch...

And spent the rest of the afternoon laying by the pool! It was an awesome, relaxing weekend!

Being addicted to watching Weeds, waffles, listening to City and Colour, eating chocolate covered peanuts, and Pinterest!
Wanting to start a new routine. I'm living my life like Groundhog's Day and I need something new!
Loving that I finally get to stay in town this weekend and hang out with my friends. It's the one weekend this whole summer that I haven't had something to do. I love being busy, but I really love the feeling of having nothing planned!
Looking for book recommendations. Now that I finally finished Harry Potter, I need some new ideas for great books/series to read. Let me know if you have any!
Celebrating a wedding with great friends is a really awesome way to spend a weekend. And I still feel like I'm recovering!
Shopping for some things for my trip next week, and noticed that every store has fall stuff out! FALL! Seriously, fastest summer ever. But, I'm so proud of myself, I got in and out of those stores buying only the things I needed...(except for a new purse) even though I really wanted to buy lots more stuff!

My computer has really been acting up lately, but I finally got around to blogging pictures from my vacation. Me and my parents went to Yellowstone for the weekend and on the way we stopped at my Grandpa's grave, Chimney Rock, and Carhenge. We spent a full day in Yellowstone and on our 15 hour drive home, we stopped by Mount Rushmore. We saw tons of awesome stuff including lots of wildlife like bears, wolves, bald eagles, elk, and buffalo and the views were amazing! We ate a lot of good food and ice cream and definitely made a stop at the candy store where we filled a whole bag with tons of different kinds and ate it all on our drive home! :)

I love getting to spend that time with my parents and going on trips like this. In a little over a week, me and my parents, along with our entire family will be going on our yearly trip to my favorite place ever! And a few days after that I'm heading to Chicago with one of my best friends! Keep an eye out for those posts soon!

Hating that I'm already back from vacation and back to working everyday! But very soon I will be in my favorite place ever, and a week after that in Chicago...so I guess I can deal with a few weeks of work!
Wanting to go on a big-time shopping spree. I want new fall clothes...flats, cardigans, jeans, scarves! I want to come out of stores with my arms full of bags! That's so unrealistic, and will never happen. But I can dream right?
Recovering from sleep deprivation and not being able to catch up! Sleeping for an entire day is sounding like a great idea!
Seeing Journey in concert (outside) on Monday night. It was in the middle of our great Nebraska heat wave and even though it was a night show, it was scorching hot! We were all so sweaty, and couldn't help complaining every 30 seconds, but it was a great show!
Dealing with FIVE kids this week! Four of them are under age 6 and one is 4 months old...let's just say I'm sooo thankful that this week is almost over. It has definitely been exhausting!
Spending this weekend celebrating two friends getting married! It's going to be a fun wedding!

Driving. Driving. Driving. Starting yesterday, I have over 2,000 miles to drive from places like Lincoln, Columbus, Scottsbluff, Wyoming, Montana, Columbus, Lincoln, Omaha, Lincoln. I'm actually in the car right now and we aren't even close to where were staying tonight. But it's going to be a fun weekend!
Seeing Yellowstone for the first time. One of the places that goes along with all that driving is Yellowstone. I've never been there and I'm excited to see stuff and take tons of pictures, which I'll upload later!
Finding my current summer job to be very exhausting and challenging!
Thinking that my five nieces and nephews are thee cutest kids in the world. It could just be because I'm their aunt and I think they're great. But seriously, they are so adorable! (Be on the lookout for my next post for some proof of this!)

Finishing summer class! I made it! I so didn't want to take this class, but I'm so happy I did and got it over with. I just took my last test, and I'm finally done!
Looking forward to what the rest of my summer has in store for me. Weddings, concerts, Yellowstone, camping, Okoboji, Chicago. It's going to go quick!
Missing my summers as a kid. I miss riding my bike around the whole town, spending every possible moment with my best friend, eating whatever we wanted, playing outside, and not having a worry in the world! Sometimes growing up really stinks!

Getting so excited for the 4th of July! It's easily my favorite holiday...there's nothing better. Summer, tons of awesome food, games, fireworks, hanging out with family, and friends. Can't wait!
Lounging at the pool. Me and the kids I nanny have went every day this week and I'm not complaining!
Finishing up the last odds and ends for my class, including one HUGE project. One test today and another next week and then I'm DONE!
Driving to Columbus seriously every weekend. It would be awesome if that drive somehow got shorter or if someone invented some sort of machine that gets me there in seconds!
Preparing to start spending every single day from 8am-5pm with 3 (sometimes with the possibility of 5) kids! It's definitely going to be a challenge!
Spending all night tonight with my niece Hailey! We're going to paint ourselves silly, make some awesome dinner, hit up red mango, and watch some movies!

(This was part of my weekend! Lynyrd Skynyrd and manicures with mom. Plus some awesome home cooked meals and relaxing!)

I went to REO Speedwagon and Lynyrd Skynyrd this weekend. I didn't take my camera in for REO, but here's some of Lynyrd Skynyrd. They're my dad's favorite band so we've seen them lots of times! They're one of my favorite bands to see because they put on a really good show, they're fun, and the people there are awesome. There were tons of Southern rock fans, cowboy hats and boots, and they ended the show with fireworks!

Seeing REO Speedwagon and Lynyrd Skynyrd this weekend. Pretty excited about that!
Hanging out downtown a lot at different coffee shops trying to get all my homework done! There's just something about my room...I can't get anything done when I'm there. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that looking at my bed makes me think of how tired I am and how I could just take a quick nap...
Still Reading Harry Potter. Holy cow. These books are just so good. I can't put them down, and I've started re-watching all the movies too. I can't wait for July 15th!
Cleaning...I've always loved cleaning, but this week I really cleaned. I'm talking scrubbed floors, counters, toilets, mirrors, vacuumed, laundry, organizing, and getting rid of tons of stuff! (Not to mention cleaning the house I nanny at too...let's just say their sink is no longer full of gross dishes and their counter tops are spotless!)
Taking pictures galore. I can't even keep up with editing. I've spent a lot of time just driving around with my camera, with the music playing - something I really love doing - and taking random shots of lots of things. I took some engagements and family pictures too, so I'm trying to finish those too!

Here's my Dad!

He is hilarious. No, but really, absolutely hilarious. He says everything quietly, under his breath though, so unless you're sitting next to him, you wouldn't even know it!

He always tells me how lucky he is that he got me as a daughter because he doesn't know how he would handle a daughter who doesn't love to fish, and run, and camp, and watch sports. He cringes at the thought of shopping or spending any kind of money! And only replaces things when they can absolutely no longer be used. I've cost him a lot, and have done some dumb things, and he's never given up on me!

I love being his daughter.

He has so many quirky weird things about him, and he passed each and every one of them onto me. He keeps track of everything. I mean everything! He knows things like how many miles he's ran (in his whole life down to the exact mile), which states he's been to, and what year he went to them, what we've done on every vacation we've been on, how many fish he's caught, and when there is some sporting event going on, you can count on him to know every winning team, records, players, and game times.

He has some big time OCD. Which is exactly where I get it! He has the same routine everyday and I always know just where to find him. He's a big fan of tradition, but loves to try new things. He's awesome at the things he does. He loves to keep things simple, and that's what I like about him!

I know can always count on him and I wouldn't be where I am today without his support and love he has for me. I've learned so many great things from him that have got me to where I am today. I couldn't even begin to explain to him how much he means to me and how much I appreciate everything he has done for me. I love him!

He's great. And there's no man better.

Eating Caramel Cashew Trail Mix from Target. I'm addicted! It's the best stuff ever! But I'm also loving whole grain waffles with peanut butter, nectarines, grapes (like always), guacamole, almonds, ice coffee, and asparagus!
Grilling out. It's probably my favorite thing to do in the summer and I've already done it so much. I love listening to music, eating outside, and having fun with my family and friends.
Missing being a camp counselor. This is the first summer that I've stayed in Lincoln and haven't went back to Columbus work work camp. It was a such a great job and I got to spend all day, every day with some really great people doing some really fun stuff. I've been missing it so much!
Getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and getting sunburns. It definitely isn't summer without these two things.
Stressing over my summer class! I am already 2 weeks done with it though! But there's just so much to do all the time that it's taking over my life, not to mention a little overwhelming!

Tuesdays in Lincoln is Jazz in June at the Sheldon Art Gallery. Tons of people bring chairs and blankets and sit on campus to listen to some great music. There's food vendors, face painting, dancing, and a whole lot of fun. Some of my friends and I checked it out this Tuesday. Here's some pictures...courtesy of me, & Melvin!
